Message Fwiw I emailed Stoptech asking for some additional details on their big brake kits and their associated affects on the stock Z32 brake bias. Not surprisingly they won't reveal actual piston diameters, however the changes they make to the stock brake bias should prove interesting for the naysayers of the previous related discussions.

Quote:
The 332 and 355mm front kits will have the same torque output. We did end up shifting bias slightly forward over stock since that offered the best results. The rear kit we offer will match the torque output of the factory rear brakes.

In other words their front kits provide slightly MORE braking torque than the stock setup. Just how much more is still unknown until I find out the actual piston diameters.

Each of the following will also result in a slight forward shift in brake bias:

  • Using a more aggressive brake pad on the front compared to the rear.
  • Reducing the pressure to the rear brakes (adjustable proportioning valve)
  • Using a larger front rotor (ie. 350z track rotor) with stock or similar-sized calipers.

Previous suggestions that Stoptech maintains the stock bias with their big brake kits, or perhaps even shifts it slightly rearward, are simply not true. At least for the Z32, bigger and more effective front brakes are a good thing which comes as no surprise to those of us who already enjoy them.
